Advanced Veterinary Surgical Care
Provided with Preparation and Precision
When your pet needs surgery, you deserve a calm, confident team that treats them like family. At Myrtle Beach Animal Hospital, our experienced veterinary team provides full-service surgical services for dogs, cats, avians, exotics, and pocket pets. From everyday procedures to complex cases, we’re equipped to help with almost anything your companion may need, and we take the time to do it right.
Soft Tissue, Orthopedic and Exotic Pet Surgery
Our surgical offerings span soft-tissue procedures (such as spay/neuter, mass removals, wound repair, GI and urinary surgeries), orthopedic solutions (from fracture repair to ligament stabilization), and species-specific surgeries for birds, reptiles, small mammals, and other exotic pets. Every plan is individualized to your pet’s anatomy, temperament, and lifestyle so recovery is smoother.
What to Expect: Before, During, and After
Clarity reduces stress. You’ll receive a simple, step-by-step guide outlining how to prepare the night before, what happens on the day of surgery, and exactly what to do at home afterward. We also personalize aftercare for your pet’s needs—whether they’re high-energy, easily anxious, or need environmental adjustments. You’ll know how to manage activity, medications, incision care, feeding, and follow-up visits.
Thoughtful Diagnostics First
Surgery is never the default treatment. We explore diagnostics thoroughly—physical exam, lab work, imaging like X-rays or ultrasound, and when needed, cytology or advanced testing—before recommending an operation. This careful approach ensures surgery is in the absolute best interest of your pet, and helps us anticipate what they’ll need before, during, and after the procedure.
Comfort and Safety at Every Step
Our patients’ healing rates are consistently strong because we pair careful research with excellent surgical technique and a rigorously sterile environment. Every step is designed to protect healing, minimize pain, and reduce complications.
Your pet’s comfort is our #1 priority, before, during, and after surgery. We tailor anesthesia to your pet, use local line blocks to prevent pain at the incision site, and provide multimodal pain control during and after the procedure. Our veterinary team manages anxiety with gentle handling and pre-visit strategies when needed, and we maintain body temperature with warming support throughout anesthesia so recovery stays smooth and safe.
Comprehensive Pre-Op Screening and Monitoring
We begin with a preoperative exam to confirm your pet is healthy for anesthesia. Recommended pre-op blood work helps us choose the safest drugs and dosages. On surgery day, your pet receives an IV catheter, fluids, and continuous monitoring—ECG, blood pressure, oxygenation, temperature, and respiration—so we can respond to even subtle changes in real time. Our veterinary team’s goal is a stable, comfortable patient from induction through recovery.
Communication You Can Count On
As soon as your pet is in recovery, we call to update you and review next steps. We check in again the next day to make sure things are going smoothly, and we’re here for you if questions arise at any time. If something doesn’t look right or you just need reassurance, please call. You’ll never feel rushed or left in the dark.

We have high expectations for your pet’s experience, and we believe you should, too.
